AKA has flipped the bird at award ceremonies all over the world.
Yesterday, the South African rapper took to his Twitter to post series of angry rants about his disillusionment with award systems and how they do not validate his craft.
“I’ve freed myself of what people think about me & my music. Good & Bad. I might just never go to another award show as long as I live,” the Baddest rapper began, adding, “The real trophy, the real award is how the people react to your music & the place you occupy in their hearts and minds.”
This comes days after AKA declared himself his own favourite artiste of all times.
“Awards are played out man. They’re too political. They can be bought. They depend on how nice you are to people,” said the rapper who was nominated for the MAMA’s Best Male and BET Best International Act: Africa awards but never won the prestigious categories.
At the last BET Awards, AKA flew to the United States for the ceremony and refused to stand next to his South African counterpart Black Coffee after the DJ won the Best International Act.
Now, for unknown reasons, AKA has taken to his Twitter to rant about how awards don’t validate him, and we wonder if it is out of frustration.
